Open enrollment only comes once a year, and the window is short. A little prep goes a long way toward getting the right plan at the right price.

Gather these before you shop

• Your expected household income for the year
• Everyone who will be on the plan
• Your preferred doctors and any regular prescriptions

Do not just auto-renew
